FOREST OFFICERS
COMMITTEE IS APPOINTED TO INVESTIGATE TRAINING CONDITIONS British Official Wireless RUGBY’, Tuesday. The Colonial Secretary, Lord Passfield, after consultation with the Secretary for India, Mr. Wedgwood Benn, and the Forestry Commissioners, has appointed a committee to consider and report upon the training of candidates and probationers for appointment as forest ofEcers. The committee is composed of the following:—Sir James Irvine, principal of St. Andrews University (chairman); Mr. Cubitt, late conservator of forests, Malaya: Sir Thomas Middleton, devel opment commissioner; Mr. Robinson Rice, chairman of the Forestry Commission and technical commissioner; Mr. F. Smith, assistant secretary. India Office; Mr. Trevor, late vice-principal and professor of forestry, Derhra Dun, India; and Major R. D. Furse, private secretary to the Colonial Secretary.
