AS YOU WERE
When Lord Haldane beat Black Magic in the memorable two-mile trot at Thames, in March, he was conceding the Te Awamutu squaregaiter 12yds. Black Magic got the decision after an inquiry had been held and his supporters got the dividend. Bob Saunders launched a successful appeal to the Trotting Association, and Lord Haldane received the value of the stake, although his backers lost their money. After the turmoil has ceased, the two trotters are meeting again on the: same terms. Two questions arise: which will win? and can either catch Parrish Belle and Blue and Gold?
