Rowing Clubs Combine for Enjoyable Ball
For Funds to Send N.Z. Crew to Canada SCOTS HALL FUNCTION To raise funds to send the New Zealand rowing club to Canada, the combined rowing clubs of Auckland organised a most enjoyable ball in Scots Hall last evening. { Streamers representing the colours of the various clubs were looped across the hall, and the club flags and pennants were hung around the walls. Palms and bamboo clumps made the lounge very attractive, and the stage was - banked with ferns and potted flowers. Crossed oars were placed | over the entrance -to the dance hall and over the stage. Streamers and flowers decorated the supper room. Dance music was supplied by the popular Dixieland Dance Band. AMONG THE DANCERS. Airs. Harle Giles had on a pretty pink lace frock, the wide flared skirt dipping to the ankles at the back. Airs. A. E. Collins was wearing cameo pink crepe fieuri and gold lace. Airs. F. P. McGrath was gowned in ivory georgette, with crystal beaded embroideries. Airs. A. Grover’s gown jras of gentian blue crepe marietta. Airs. Bailey wore a bouffant frock of sprigged taffeta. • Mrs. A. Lucas was wearing a flounced frock of pale daffodil yellow. Mrs. IT. War man was in an ivory satin gown, mounted on flesh pink. Airs. Cyril \Vatkin had on black satin and net,- heavily embroidered with paillettes. • Airs. D. Kelly was wearing poinsettla red satin faille. Airs. Bruce Smith had on a gown of black georgette, relieved with silver lace. Airs. IT; Agnew was in a pretty green chiffon frock, with shoulder spray of pink flowers. - Airs. Brooker had chosen cedar rose faille, with uneven hemline. Airs. E. IT. Buckler had chosen a black taffeta frock, with beaded embroideries. Mrs. T. H. Young wore deep - orchid chenille, embossed georgette frock, with silver relief. Aliss ATarjorie Low’s pretty frock was' of orchid pink sprigged taffeta, with widely flared • skirt -arid peplum frill. Aliss Leah Buddie was wearing naples blue tosca net, with deep, decotletage, relieved with brilliants, arid frilled anklelength skirt. Miss Audrey Perry wore a pale daffodil yellow period gown of faille, the petalled hem being inset with flared panels of tulle frills. Aliss Peggy Hammonds wore del. blue taffeta, with deep hem of pale rose. Aliss Alina Hammonds was frocked in sea foam green satin, with yoke and hem of honey-coloured georgette.. Aliss R. Richardson wore’ .'A -.-grown of* black faille, appliqued with pastel tinted flowers. Aliss Daphne Berry wore a frock of camellia pink panne velvet and chiffon; Aliss Betty Davidson’s frock was of apple green taffeta and chiffon, with peacock bow at the waist. Aliss Joan Barrett had on a graceful frock of chartreuse green chiffon. Aliss Battershill was wearing tea rose satin and frilled chiffon. Aliss Kitty Gribble was wearing a bouffant frock of tea rose taffeta. Aliss Grace Endcan had on black lace and chiffon. Aliss Elsie King’s frock was of naples blue georgette, with peacock bow at the waist. Aliss Jean Lovegrove’s frock was a smart combination of velvet and ninon in deep flame shade. Aliss Lorna ATcßae was wearing a smart moire taffeta frock of water green. Aliss Alavis Slater was wearing red and gold brocade corsage, with frilled red georgette skirt. Aliss O. Hurflt had chosen a frock of pink taffeta and silver lace. Aliss Pauline Crewe wore a pretty frock of ivory polka-dotted net, with pointed skirt of uneven length. Miss Dudgeon was frocked in sunset pink taffeta, with frilled skirt. Aliss Phyllis Wheeler (GisborneY wore a shrimp pink taffeta gown relieved with gold lace. AHss J. Ensor wore a very charming period gown of amber-tin ted moire taffeta.
Aliss E. Hayward’s ankle-length frock was of pale daffodil crepe fieuri, with shadow hem of tulle. Aliss B. Adams was in cuban orange and gold gros grain taffeta, with gold lace hem.
Miss Zena Adams wore black ring velvet, combined with cyclamen and amethyst gros grain taffeta. Miss New combe was in a pretty frock of larkspur blue satin, with flared overskirt of blue tulle. • Miss H. Hiilra-e was wearing eau de ml green georgette, with shoulder spray of violets . . , Miss B. Dickenson had chosen black chiffon combined with gold lace. Miss Jel lard’s frock was of primrose taffeta, and georgette, with, hip bow. Miss Alice Bailey bad on nymph green satin beaute, with cameo pink relief. Miss Helen Chalmers was frocked in black satin anrl lace'. Miss Ga be Kofoed had chosen black panne velvet, with ankle-length skirt of black and silver lace. Miss W. O’Connor was wearing a pretty frilled frock of turquoise blue faille.
