STRAND
“THE NIGHT PARADE” Those who like fast-moving drama, intrigue and modern night life, will find more than enough to please m Radio Pictures’ “Night Parade.” now showing at the Strand Theatre. Mai St. Clair, in his direction. _ has dipped his camera lens and his microphone into Broadway after dark, and has given the eye and ear intimate contact with the romance, intrigue, sorrows and joys of the tinselled throngs. Hugh Trevor, a handsome young player, provides a most excellent performance as the young middle-weight champion, not only the idol of the world, but the object of devotion on the part of his father and fostersister. A plot is hatched in the labyrinth of Manhattan night life which seriously threatens the love, honour and standing of Bobby Murray (Hugh Trevor).
Dorothy Gulliver plays the leading feminine role, and proves her mettle in this, her first picture since she graduated from the “Collegian” series, in which the screen world knows her best. Excellent supports are also being shown. On Friday the Strand will present an entire change of programme. A double-feature talkie programme is the next attraction, headed by “Slightly Scarlet,” a powerful melodrama. Clive Brook, the star, is seen as a gentleman crook who falls in love with a Parisienne jewel thief played by Evelyn Brent. The action of the story is last-moving and exciting. The second attraction will be “The
Squall,” an unusual and intriguing tale centring around gipsies in Hungary. Alice Joyce. Myrna Loy, Richard Tucket and Loretta Young are included in the all-star cast.
