RICHMOND CRUISING CLUB
ANNUAL PRIZE NIGHT A large number of members and friends of the Richmond Cruising club attended the annual prize distribution ceremony in the O'Xeili .Street Mall last evening. The function took the form of a dance, as is customary with the club. In welcoming the guests, who l-epre-.sented most of the yacht clubs, the commodore, I\fr. X. L. Thompson referred to the successful year the club had enjoyed. Despite the financial stringency in the City the club was distributing £4O in cash and £3O in trophies. The president. Mr. J. Donald, who presented the prizes, congratulated tlie commodore and officers on the way the seasons’ racing had been conducted. Tim handicapping had shown good results. Mr. Donald referred with pleasure to the club’s custom of having a dance on such occasions for its women friends were not excluded. Mr. J. Longbottom, vice-patron’ has given a handsome cup for competition next season, and it will probably be awarded to the boat securing most points. Combined Opening Day.—U class: Why Not, 1: Omatere, 2. Sweepstake race: Otira, 3; Rakoa, 2. V class: Sun, 1; Scud, 2. Sweepstake race: Belle, 3; Sun, 2; Scud, 3. S class: Rangitira, 3. Sweepstake race: Mistral, 1: Aratu, 2. Y class: Fay, 1; Cupid, 2. Sweepstake race: Fay, 1; Oreiti, 2. T class: Mann, 3: Shalimar. 2. Sweepstake race: Manu, 3: Shalimar, 2. The points medal presented by the president for the boat securing the greatest number of points during the season was won by Otira.
