METHODIST ORPHANAGES
ANNUAL MEETING OF WOMEN’S COMMITTEE On Friday afternoon the annual meeting of the Methodist Women’s Orphanage Committee was held in the Pitt Street Church parlour. The report of the year’s work was read by the secretary, Miss Ida Buttle. A total of 112 children were in the three homes. In the Buckland Road home were 44; the Wesley, 41; and Bp worth, 27. The sum of £163 had been collected during the year in various ways, and one special gift afternoon had provided sufficient material to clothe all the children for the winter. Officers for the coming year were elected as follow: President, Mrs. A. Peak; vice-presidents, Mesdames Armitage, Pattison, White, and Veitch; secretary, Miss Ida Buttle; treasurer, Miss E. Waddingham; house committees — Wesley Home, Mesdames Beck, Trenwith, and Parlington; Buckland Road, Mesdames T. Clark, Pople, and Miss E. Fleming; Epworth, Mesdames A. C. Oaughey, Jackson, Misses Mason and Kirk. The three matrons, Mrs. Everiss, Misses Johnston and Coatman, reported good health and good conduct in connection with the children in all the homes, and expressed grateful thanks for many donations of fruit, vegetables, jams, clothing, etc.
