RAILWAY COMMISSION
PERSONNELANNOUNCED MR. MASTERS AS CHAIRMAN Press Association WEBBINGTON, Today. In his financial statement, the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes, intimated that it was the intention of the Government to set up a Royal Commission to investigate all branches of the Railway Department’s activities and advise where economies could be effected. Mr. Forbes now announces that the Governor-General has approved the following members of the commission: Mr. John Dryden Hall, Christchurch. Mr. Richard William McVilly. Mr. James Marchbanks, Wellington. Mr. Robert Masters, Stratford. Mr. George Walter Reid, Dunedin (Otago University). Mr. Masters is to be chairman of the commission, which will commence its sittings at an early date.
