VICE-REGAL TOUR

VISITS TO NORTH ISLAND WEST COAST TOWNS LEAVING AUCKLAND TONIGHT This evening the Governbr-General, Lord Bledisloe, and Lady Bledisloe, attended by Sir John Hanham, A.D.C., will leave by the second express to visit Wagnanui, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Waitara and Inglewood On June 19 their Excellencies will reach Wellington. They will go into residence at Government House for the winter months. Their return will be before the opening of Parliament. A civic reception will be accorded their Excellencies at Wanganui tomorrow. Among the engagements will be a welcome by Maoris of the Whanganui, Ngati-Hau, Ngati-Pamoana, Ngati-Apa and Nga-Rauru tribes, the opening of a new wing of the nurses’ quarters at the Karitane Home, a visit to the Public Hospital, visits to colleges and schools, an inspection of Girl Guides and receptions by the Rotary Club and the women’s division of the Farmers’ T/nion. At New Plymouth on Thursday evening there will be a civic reception. A large assembly of school children has been arranged, and there will be visits to the North Taranaki Winter Show, the hospital, the Women’s Club and the Waitara and Inglewood districts. New Plymouth will be left on Saturday afternoon, their Excellencies spending Sunday at Mount Egmont. Departure for Palmerston North will be made on Monday next, and an important engagement will be the opening of Manawatu’s large Winter Show. There will be a civic reception and a luncheon, a reception by the Manawatu County Women’s Club, a visit to the Massey Agricultural College at Fitzherbert, aft inspection of the Flock House for girls at Awapuni, and a visit to the Public Hospital.. A dinner party was given their Excellencies on Saturday evening, and yesterday divine service at St. Matthew’s was attend^.
