CATHEDRAL WEDDING
BRIDE IN BOUFFANT TULLE FROCK, CARRIES SHEAF OF DELPHINIUMS SUTTON—EDGCUMBE At St. Mary’s Cathedral recently, the marriage was celebrated of Erina Shelly, eldest daughter of Mrs. G. V. Edgecumbe, of Burrows Avenue, Parnell, and John Richard, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Sutton, of Burwood Crescent, Remuera. The cathedral had been decorated for the occasion by friends of the bride. Canon Fancourt, assisted by the Rev. J. L. Litt, uncle of the bridegroom, performed the ceremony. Given away by her brother. Mr. Piers Edgecumbe, the bride was gowned in white tulle over pale pink, embroidered in silver, with a long full skirt reaching to the ankles. The veil of honiton lace, which was a family heirloom, formed a graceful train, and she carried a sheaf of blue delphiniums. Miss Mary Mossman, of Havelock North, Miss Edna Ballantyne and Miss Marjorie Fair attended the bride. They wore frocks in replica of orchid green taffeta faille, the ankle-length hem and yokes were of fish-net banded with taffeta, and on the back were posies of violets with long green streamers. Their hats were of green felt, with posies of parma violets, and they carried muffs with sprays of orchids and violet flowers. Mr. Alexander K. Turner attended the bridegroom as best man, and Mr. Valletort Edgecumbe and Mr. Keith Storey acted as groomsmen.
The ushers were Messrs. R. Ballantyne, R. Aubin and T. Hay, and the wedding music was played by Mr. Gerald T. Lee.
The reception was held at the Mecca, where Mrs. Edgecumbe received the guests in an ensemble of black moire ring velvet, with hat of felt and velvet with diamente trimming. She carried a cyclamen-coloured bouquet. The mother of the bridegroom was in a navy blue georgette ensemble, with a hat to tone. Her bouquet was of pale pink carnations.
