HEAVY-WEIGHT TITLE
SI lARKEY AND SCHMELING TRAIN FOR JUNE 12 BOTH MEN CONFIDENT NEW YORK, Tuesday. Jack Sharkey and Max Schmeling, who are to box for the world’s heavyweight championship on June 12, are in active training. In his quarters at Endicott, New York, Schmeling today boxed six rounds with four sparriug partners, giving excellent boxing lessons to two of them and finishing the others completely. Schmeling will work again tomorrow' and rest on Thursday. He w'ill box on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and rest on Monday, and will have a final work-out on Tuesday. The German’s condition is excellent. He is not too confident, but apparently is quite sure of himself. At Orangeburg, New York. Sharkey today boxed five rounds, but did little other work owing to the intense heat. Sharkey’s left to the body w r as much in evidence. With it he is expected to try to wear down Sehmeling in the early rounds. Sharkey proposes to continue to box every day until two days before the contest.
