AUCKLAND WINTER CARD
JUNE TROTTING AT EPSOM ENTRIES CLOSE TOMORROW Tomorrow at 5 p.m. Mr. A. G. Mabee, secretary of the Auckland Trotting Club, will drop the shutters of the nomination lobby at his Durham Street office, and those arriving after that hour will be left lamenting. However, there should be no necessity for any owner or trainer being late, and certainly no excuse can be offered as the fact of entries closing on Friday, June 6, has been daily kept before them in the trotting columns of The Sun. The winter meeting at Alexandra Park is a popular one with the general public, and it affords owners and trainers a final chance to earn something to keep their charges during the vacation which follows. This fixture is also popular with trainers from other centres, and visitors in the past have been fairly numerous at the June carnival, but'it is quite feasible to expect that the numbers will be considerably augmented on this occasion. Visitors will appreciate the action of the club in holding the racing on Saturday and Monday. Formerly it was customary to hold the fixture on Saturday and Wednesday, and many owners and trainers found it both expensive and inconvenient to be away so long from home. This year's arrangement should suit all sections admirably, and the wisdom of the progressive policy adopted by the management will no doubt be reflected in the liberal response tomorrow. For the convenience of those candidates eligible to take part at the function, “Abaydos” appends a summary of each day's card: THE PROGRAMME First Day, Saturday, June 21 Winter Handicap (trotters), of* £250; 5.0 limit; 2 miles.
