ONE TREE HILL BOROUGH
MEETING OF COUNCIL The vibration caused by solid-tj-red, heavy motor-lorries on Great South Road was the source of a complaint to the One Tree Hill Borough Council last evening. The letter received by the council claimed that heavy lorries ha.d recently been speeding in the vicinity of Farmer’s Hill. The thumping and vibration was likely to be detrimental to the concrete roadway and caused uncalled-for discomfort to residents and shopkeepers. It was decided to ask the traffic inspector report on the nuisance. The building inspector reported that since January 1 this year, 85 permits had been issued of a value of £21,260. A number of noxious weeds notices had been sent out in respect to gorse growing on sections. The Mayor, Mr. J. S. Hardwicke, and Crs. R. G. Clarke, I. J. Goldstine and W. G. Mulholland are to represent the council at a meeting of local bodies convened by the Auckland Hospital Board to consider relief measures for the unemployed. The parking of motor-cars on the grass on the footpath in Campbell R.oad was complained of by Cr. W. G. Mulholland. The trouble arose, he said, on race days. Some motor-cars had been run up a small bank in order to find parking-space, thus damaging the turf which was tended by residents ; themselves. It was decided that no- • parking notices be placed at intervals j on the grass this morning.
