BOUGHT CHEAPLY

MASTER LU won his first •*•*■*• steeplechase, when he carried off the Green Lane Steeplechase at Ellerslie yesterday, and incidentally, it was also the first race won over obstacles by Jockey G. Spinks, who gave a skilful exhibition on the winner. Some time ago Master Lu was seen running in a paddock in the Far North by Messrs. M. and J. O'Connor, and taking a fancy to the fellow they purchased him for £35. These sportsmen train the horse themselves, and it would not be surprising to see them lead in their horse as the winner of a real good steeplechase this season or next, for he is a promising jumper.
