FAREWELL TO MINISTER

MR. HERRON’S TRANSFER TRIBUTES FROM CONGREGATION The congregation of St. David's . held a meeting in the church hall last evening to say farewell to the Rev, D. C. Herron. Mr. Herron will leave this week to take charge at Knox Church, Dunedin. Presentations were made by Mr. J. Fleming on behalf of the congregation. Mr. ITerron was given a framed photograph of the new church and a cheque, while Mrs. Herron received a silver tea service, an afternoon tea tray and crystal ware. The work of Mrs. ITerron in assisting her husband in church activities was highly praised by several speakers, including Mrs. Wyness and Mrs. J. Robbs. Mr. J. Hyland spoke of Mr. Herron’s work in the interests of the young people of the church, and the Rev. Dr. TI. Ranston conveyed the congratulations of the Council of Christian Congregations and of the Methodist Church. The following also spoke:—The Rev. F. A. Thompson (Moderator of the Auckland Presbytery), Dr. Garfield Stewart, Mr. J. W. Rvburn, the Rev. J. A. Thomson, Mr. EL C. Farr and Mr. J. M. Eliiffe. Mr. James Robertson presided.
