“GRAND PRIX” RACES

SPEED EVENTS AT MANGERE The first motor-cycling event of its kind to be held in the Dominion has been fixed by the Sports Motor-cycle Club for Tuesday next, June 3, and will be run off at Henning’s Speedway. Mangere. The first race is set down for 1.30 p.m. Contests will be similar to those of the French “Grand Prix.” There will be a 60-mile race for solo machines, a 10-lap race for sidecar outfits and an event for 250 c.c motorcycles Competitors will have to negotiate a series of artificial S-shaped bends in the present straight, and speed in gear changing on these corners will probably prove the deciding factor.
