AMERICA’S BIG ROLL
The American section of the Campbell Clan is making plans for the future visit of Niall Campbell, Duke of Argyll, chief of the clan, who is an honorary colonel of the Eighth Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, and one of the Fifteenth Argyll Light Infantry of Canada. It is estimated that there are 2,431,250 persons of Campbell Clan descent in America —more Highland Scots than in Scotland itself, according to authorities. The clan is also continuing with the erection of the Campbell Memorial Belfry Tower in the picturesque region of Inverary, Scotland. This tower, designed by the Duke of Argyll, was begun in 1914. Work was dropped during the period of the World War, but resumed in 1920. It is to have ten great hells, which are already acquired and in a temporary home. They are considered as fine as those of Westminster. The Duke of Argyll, as chief of the Clan Campbell, is chairman of the Memorial Committee. He iias appointed Mrs. Marry L. Norton, of San Francisco, as chairman for United States.
