FUSION SUGGESTED
PAPATOETOE ORGANISATIONS At a well-attended meeting of representatives of the Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce, Welfare League, and business men of Papatoetoe, held in the Renown Hall, Papatoetoe, last evening, it was unanimously decided that the Chamber of Commerce and the Welfare League join forces. Mr. S. J. E. Closey, president t>f the Welfare League, in proposing the motion, said that his organisation had most to sacrifice by the proposed fusion. Pie considered that there was only room for one strong body in Papatoetoe, and to help the fusion of the two bodies he would offer his resignation as president of the league. Seconding the proposal, Air. PI. C. Ernest, president of the Chamber of Commerce, expressed the opinion that the move was in the right direction. The chairman, Mr. A. W. Hall. M.P. for Hauraki, said the difficulties of fusion should not bo considered, but the advantage that would accrue to Papatoetoe if the two bodies were linked up.
It was decided that the delegates present a report to their respective organisations, and ask them to appoint delegates to meet dolgats from the business people at an early date to discuss the question.
