DEVONPORT BUS ROUTES

REQUEST FOR ALTERATION

For eight years an expensive concrete road (Tainui Road) in Devonport, laid down in anticipation of the route being used by motor-buses, has lain idle, except for spasmodic use by tradesmen’s delivery carts. The motor-buses have used a parallel street, Oxford Terrace.

Last evening the Devonport Borough Council, faced with the necessity of spending several hundred pounds on reconditioning Oxford Terrace, instructed the town clerk to apply to the No. 2 Omnibus Licensing Authority to have the motor-bus route transferred to the pa’ved Tainui Road.
