CAR SALVAGED FROM RIVER
The motor-car which crashed through the Whau River Bridge on Tuesday evening, and remained submerged for 16 hours, was salvaged yesterday and towed to town. The car, driven by Mr. J. B. Cranwell, of Henderson, skidded on the bridge and crashed through the railing into the river, 25ft below. At 11 o'clock yesterday morning, the tide being almost low, the salvage gang
commenced operations, and slowly ■ttk. dragged the car out of the mud into which it had sunk several inches. The front wheels were twisted, the radibattered, and the fender* had been pierced by the bridge railings. After an hour and a half the car ||||||H was placed on the road.
