FUNCTION AT NORTHCOTE The popularity of the whist drive organised by the Waitemata Bowling Of by the number of patrons at the opening evening of S li OQ f ew season held in the Palais Theatre, Northcote, last evening. 'There was keen competition at the card tables, prizes being awarded to Mesdames J. Brennan, J. Paltridge, J. Daley and Afessrs. N. Shorter O J Taylor and C. Headland. Prizes for the highest aggregate last season were awarded to Airs. A. Oldbury and Mr. W. AlcKinstrie. Air. George Lyons and J. Williamson made efficent Al. C's. Among those present were: 'Mesdames F. Browne, E. Bailev, G Boyd, F. Townsend, H. Eccles, E. W*. j Clements, Nurse Hand, J. Daley, F. Alitchell, A. Overbury, J. Paltridge, J. Watson, C. Headland, A. Osborne, O. Rose, M. Roberts, C.'
