MOTOR-CYCLING FIXTURES May 31.—Championship race meeti ing of Xorth Shore Club at Orewa [ Beach. June 3.—Grand prix race of Sports Club at Henning's Speedway. June 7. —Hill -climbing practice at I Mangere Mountain. Juno 9.—Monthly meeting of Xorth j Shore Club. June 10.—Annual meeting of Sports I Club in Chamber of Commerce. Juno 14. —Hill-climbing contests of 1 Sports Club at Mangere Mountain. Indefinite. —Prize night of Xorth j Shore Club. SUCCESSFUL TRIAL NORTH SHORE CLUB’S RUN Although only 10 riders faced the starter for the Xorth Shore MotorCycle Club’s 250-mile reliability run over the week-end. the outing was a decided success. The route, altered at the last minute, lay by back roads from Hevonport to Huntly, Hamilton and back to Auckland. Two machines tailed to reach Huntly, the night check, although all negotiated the roads round the upper harbour and checked-in in the City. No further news was received of ! E. Leikis (Matchless), who did not i pass the secret check at Papakura. J. Parker (250 c.c. Velocette) retired with headlight trouble when darkj ness overtook the party on the Razor- ! back. Frost overnight made the engines hard to start next morning, when the starting test was held, and all but two competitors dropped 15 poin's I through being unable to get their ! machines going within 10 seconds. The times varied from three seconds Ito 40 seconds, one engine actually refusing for several minutes. Walker I lost the trial here, his mount, which j had started well along the route, requiring 12 second to get going. W. Kirchbr (Humber) had been delayed through clutch slip and, later by a slide which wrecked his front mudguard and his battery, but he completed the course although retiring officially from the trial. | Most competitors were right at i nearly every open check, but the two j secret checks proved the downfall of j all riders, who were, almost without exception, several minutes ahead of time. The trial resulted: A. Sutherland (A.K.D.), 16 points Lost 1 Cyril D. Walker (350 c.c. Douglas), 26 points 2 W. Tremayne (Indian), 32 points 3 Other riders were: C. Richards (A.J.S.), O. Christie (Norton), and E. H. Page (Velocette), S. Person (New Hudson).
