CYCLIST BADLY HURT
ACCIDENT ON DOMINION ROAD A serious accident, involving a cyclist and a motor-car, occurred at tho corner of Valley and Dominion Roads at about 7.30 this morning. Tlie cyclist, Mr. J. R. Smith, a labourer, of Devonport, employed by Glinter, contractor, received severe head injuries, and was removed to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance. It is believed that a motor-car, said to be driven by Mr. F. Hammerick, of Avondale South, was turning into Valley Road, when the cycle, which was travelling down Dominion Road, struck tlie rear of tlie car, and Mr. Smith was thrown heavily to tho ground. He was picked up in an unconscious condition, and was hurried to the hospital. The bicycle was extensively damaged. Mr. Smith's ■■ondition is serious.
