THREE MONTHS’ GAOL FOR THIEF ASSAULT AT SCHOOL John Bourke, who was convicted last Monday and remanded for sentence on charges.of being found on the enclosed premises of the Swanson" School and assaulting the chairman of the school committee, John Beecher Grey, was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment when he appeared on three further charges at the Police Court this morning. Bourke, a labourer, aged 36, pleaded guilty to stealing a razor and toilet gear to the value of £1 18s 6d from Charles Ingham at Henderson on April 30. He also admitted stealing shoes and a bat valued at 255, the property of J F. Milligan and an electric torch valued at ss, the property of Compton Tickle, at Swanson, on May 17. Sub-Inspector Shanahan said the torch, shoes and hat liad been stolen from Milligan’s car in front of tlie public hall at Swanson. Accused’s list included convictions for breaking and entering, theft and vagrancy. "He is wandering about the country picking up wliat he can. He is just out of gaol,” commented Mr. F. Iv. Hunt, S.M., imposing a term of imprisonment on the charge of stealing* goods valued at £1 18s 6d. On all the other counts Bourke was convicted and discharged.
