TALLER POLICEMEN

JAPANESE ADD INCH TO HEIGHT Those aspiring to be policemen in Japan must, from now on, be taller than was hitherto required. The height for. membership in the Japanese police force has, thus far, been sft lin., but a new police order requires all aspirants to add an extra inch to their stature, and be at least sft 2in in height. The police circular says that the Japanese, as a nation, have been saining in height. This is obvious, for the younger generation, thanks to athletics, more open air living, and tetter diet and sanitary conditions, are certainly taller than their parents and grandparents. The authorities are of the opinion that the extra inch of height, required will not lead to any diminution in the number of police.
