WATER PIPES BURST

FROST AT MORRINSVILLE From Our Own Correspondent MORRINSVILLE, Friday. Several water pipes were burst at Morrinsville last night, when 11 degrees of frost were registered. This is the lowest temperature recorded here this year. * , * * Plans have been prepared for the construction of a dress circle at the Regent Theatre, and it is expected that a tender will be accepted for the work in a few days’ time. An extension of the entrance corridor tP the theatre to give better access to seats in the front of the building is now being carried out. The plans were approved at last evening’s meeting of the Borough Council. * *■ * Reserved judgment was given in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday by Mr. Wyvern Wilson, S.M., for the full amount claimed, £230, in the case in which J. Fitness claimed compensation from J. T. Hawke in terms of a share-milking agreement. Notice of appeal was given. * * * Mr. H. J. Barford, who was recently elected unopposed to the Morrinsville Borough Council to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr. T E. Martin, took his seat for the first time at the council table last evening. * * * The town clerk reported that the amount of rates outstanding at March 31 was £1,009 16s lOd, as compared with £1,360 9s 3d at March 31. 1929. The sum of £9,808 18s 3d was received up to March 31, and £77 15s has sinee been received. S? * Mr. J. M. Allen, who was thrown from his horse during a hunt meeting recently, is reported to be progressing satisfactorily. After receiving medical attention for facial injuries and severe concussion, Mr. Allen was removed to a Morrinsville hospital, where It was found that he had three ribs and a collarbone broken.
