WOMEN’S INSTITUTES

NEWLY FORMED BRANCH AT RAGLAN The first monthly meeting of the newly-formed Raglan Women's Institute was held on Friday evening, and was well attended. The president, Mrs. A. L. Pegler, gave a brief address on the aims and objects of the institute, after which a social evening followed. Musical items were contributed by Mrs. Johns and Miss A. Gilmour, accompanied by Mrs. C. Gilmour, and a recitation by Mrs. J. O’Sullivan. A memory competition was won by Miss A. McGregor. The women of the committee acted as hostesses for the even- j ins. MEETING AT WAIUKU. A meeting of the TVaiuku branch j of the Women’s Institute was held last j week, Airs. Teape was in the chair, i and an interested audience of over GO j was appreciative of a demonstration of cooking. Two ranges were installed,; and one woman demonstrator ex- j plained her procedure and method while I she was cooking.
