St. Cuthbert’s Old Girls

Annual lOance is Bright Function DECORATIONS IN SCI-AOL ! COLOURS Members of the Old Girls’ Association of St. Cuthbert’s College spent a very happy time last evening. when the annual ball was held in Scots Hall. Miss Clouston, principal of the college, was unfortunately unable to be present, as she has not yet returned from Wellington, but her place was taken by Mrs. James Robertson, who was accompanied by Mrs. Sutherland.

i Mrs. Lowrie McGregor, president of ; the association, welcomed Mrs. Robertson, and on behalf of the old girls ! presented her with a bouquet of red ; flowers. The ball had been effectively decorated in the school colours of blue and silver and at intervals round the walls were large badges bearing the school motto, "By love, serve.” Palms and tubs of bamboo lined the vestibule, and were charmingly arranged in the lounge and on the stage, while lines of lycopodium made a green canopy overhead. In the supper room were pale cyclamen and chrysanthemums* and tiny petunia flowers amid lines of greenery were strung across the room. The arts and crafts circle of the Old Girls’ j Association, under the leadership of ; Miss Phyllis Gash, was responsible for 111© decorations. Mrs. Robertson was gowned in black chenille embossed georgette, with an oriental patterned shawl wrap, and Mrs. Sutherland wore black crepe de solo over black and gold lame. COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT Mrs. Lowrie McGregor wore a gown of canton jade ring velvet, the uneven length skirt being lined with scarlet, and a spray of scarlet flowers was pinned to the corsage. Miss Nance "WTiitelaw’s frock was of ivory satin beaute with swathed hip yoke and uneven length skirt. Miss Ena Potter had on hyacinth blue faille sprigged with pink rosebuds. Miss Phyllis Gash had chosen pale green taffeta with shoulder spray of pink flowers. Miss Helen Seabrook was wearing a graceful frock of apple green lace. Miss Valma Roulston wore printemps green chiffon appliqued with deeper toned ring velvet. Miss Flora Robertson was in peach pink chiffon edged with taffeta. Miss Bettie Col will’s attractive frock was of palest begonia pink taffeta. Miss Joan Dodds was in saracen red crepe de soie. Black and cherry patterned ninon was worn by Miss Effle Hardley. Miss Joyce Carlaw’s gown was of green and. gold brocaded metal cloth. Miss Tory Johnson was in Chinese red georgette embroidered with silver beads. Miss Laura Blakey’s frock was of seafoam green sprigged taffeta with hem of green tulle.

AMONG THE DANCERS Mrs. A. E. Moore was in a pretty flounced frock of green satin, with shoulder spray of roses. Blue and silver gros grain taffeta was chosen by Mrs. Hamilton. Mrs. Ernest Thomas was gowned in ivory georgette and lace. Miss Joyce Col will had on a distinctive grown of pale primrose chiffon and gold lace with graceful shoulder cape. Black lace was combined with black chiffon in the gown worn by Miss Joyce Phillipps. Misrs Edna Gill was wearing a very pretty gown of pale cameo pink satin with yoke embroidered with diamente and appliqued with roses. Miss Vivien Bartlett had on pale yellow satin with frilled net skirt shading to deep orange. Miss Ailsa Lewis wore a pretty frock of printemps green satin and petalled net frills, with soft bow of rose satin at the waist. Miss Beach llardie Neil was wearing green and gold patterned lame and lace. Miss Doris Tills chose ivory sprigged taffeta with shadow hem of ivory tulle. Miss Phyllis Phillips had on dark amethyst fish net over satin in the same tone. Miss Mavis McCuUogTi wore a period gown of ivory taffeta edged with black. Miss Mollie Seabrook’s pretty frock was of daffodil yellow frilled georgette. Miss Ruth Owen wore moon mist blue taffeta with cedar rose hip bow. Miss Shirley Watkins was in a bouffant frock of leaf green taffeta. Miss Noreen McCrystal had chosen lilac georgette with shoulder spray of roses. Ivory satin, with feather trimming, was worn by Miss Florence Earle. Miss Nuki Grant was wearing a frilled fxock of sea foam green taffeta with ankle length skirt of frills. Miss Ethel Potter had on a gown of silver lame and amethyst lace.

Miss Xoeline Worthy’s frock was of palm green and rose flowered chiffon. Miss Joan Potter’s frock was of black and rose flowered chiffon. A pretty frock of peach pink taffeta;, with bouffant overskirt of tulle, was chosen by Miss Janet Wallace. Miss Beatrice Lowe wore an ivory frock with cerise corsage spray and a cerise velvet wrap, with white fox fur trimming. Miss Joan Alaclndoe’ frock of black net was relieved with touches of gold. Miss Rita Hill liad on green and silver shot taffeta. Miss P. Corbett’s frock was of pale lido blue georgette. Miss Mavis Young was in a blue flounced crepe de chine frock. Miss Kathleen Teape was wearing floral taffeta with a net hem. Miss Joyce Jenkins was in blue taffeta and silver lace. Miss Joyce Porter was wearing a frock of black chiffon with pointed draperies. Miss Le.ser was frocked in ivory and rose flowered taffeta. Miss Gibson had on a gown of lilac faille with bouffant skirt of uneven length. Miss Molly Goodwin wore a green and gold net frock. « Ivory georgette with diamente embroidery was worn by Miss P. Davidson. Miss Maureen Abbott’s frock was of ivory sprigged taffeta. Miss Harrison was wearing l a pretty blue patterned satin frock. Miss Phyllis Dilworth had chosen pink georgette relieved with silver. Miss Marjorie Meek wore a hunch of violets on the corsage of her yellow lace frock. . Miss Nancye Abbott was m black and white patterned lame with black lace hem. Miss Olive Gaud in’s taffeta frock was of sunshine gold. Miss I>. Wayte wore rose-pink taffeta. Miss Burcher was gowned in black georgette. _ . Miss Rhoda Robertson was frocked m pale apricot georgette and taffeta. Pastel pink georgette embroidered with crystal beads and rhinestones was worn by Miss K. Bag-nail. Miss Merle Cox was wearing larkspur blue faille, with deep hem of cream lace. Miss Freda Gaudin’s pretty frock was of cuban orange georgette, with pointed draperies. Miss Una Ellett had on an apple green lace frock, with pointed hemline. Miss Ida Parkinson was frocked in primrose yellow georgette embroidered with sprays of pastel-tinted flowers. Miss Ethel Hardley was in a frock of hollyhock pink georgette. Miss Gwen Hooper’s frock was of canton jade green and gold embossed georgette. Miss Freda Suter was smartly gowned in ivory lace Miss Xeol Self wore a frock of rose and honey-coloured floral ninon. Miss Joyce Neumegen was in a pale beige and rose floral taffeta gown. Miss Olive Braithwaite had on a bouffant frock of deep cyclamen taffeta. Miss Betty Hitchings was wearing a. frock of wistaria mauve taffeta. Miss Ailsa Noonan's frock was of phlox pink frilled net. Kile green georgette, appliqued with pale cedar rose flowers, was worn by Miss Phyllis Coates. Miss Linda de Renzy had on black chiffon velvet and taffeta.
