POPULAR GIRL
TAMAKI YACHT CLUB COMPETITION PRIZES PRESENTED The prizes won at the Tamaki Yacht Club’s popular girl competition and art union were presented at a social held last evening at the Peerless Theatre, St. Meliers. The winner of the popular competition was Miss Marjorie Simpson, of St. Heliers. Miss Reeca Pilkington. of i Tamaki, was second, and Miss Maggie Kerr, Kohimaramci, third. The prizes were presented by Mr. W. P. Endean, M.P., who congratulated the club on the result of the competition. “Yachting,” he said, “is the best and cleanest of sports and I feel sure the J’oung club will grow, especially when it gets its clubhouse.” The commodore, Mr. W. s*. "Wilkinson, thanked the committee for its efforts on behalf of the club’s building fund, and asked for the support of St. Heliers residents. Mr. Wilkinson said that, when the new clubhouse was built on the Fort Bastion sitefi the club pro- , posed to cater for all aquatic sports. Musical items were given by Mrs. D. Simpson, Messrs. J. A. Allen, R. Yates and H. Williams.
