CUMBERSOME OARS are out of date as far as the Rangitata, now in Auckland, is concerned. Her lifeboats, one of which is seen on the harbour, are propeller-driven, the power being supplied by the crew, who work a series of fore-andraft levers. Note the swirl from the propeller under the stern.
