SHIPMENTS DURING APRIL HEAVY COMPETITION The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board is advised by cable from its London office that the shipments of meat from Australia and South America to the United Kingdom during the month of April were as follow: Australia.—Carcases mutton, 49,557; carcases lamb, 70,276; quarters beef, 51,960. South America.—Carcases mutton* 345,375 j carcases lamb, 566,345; quarters beef (frozen), 6,978; quarters beef (chilled), 546,828. Included in the South American figures are 167,219 co.rcases of lamb and 143,000 carcases of mutton shipped from Patagonia. The shipments from New Zealand to the United Kingdom for the same period were as follow: ’ New Zealand.—Carcases mutton, 184,691; carcases lamb, 739,702; quarters beef, 21,871. The shipments from South America to the Continent of Europe during the same period were as follow:—■ Mutton, 571 tons; frozen beef, 9,425 tons.
