TRADE IN PRODUCE
POTATO MARKET WEAK FLOUR ADVANCES IN PRICE Sun Office, 9 a.m. The potato market continues to be weakly stocked, although the nonarrival of supplies from the South this week allows merchants to hold their own. The best quality tubers are selling at £ 6 15s a ton, and fairly substantial quantities are expected next week. No Change in Onion Market There is no improvement in onions this week, but there is still a plentiful supply. Merchants are asking £ 5 a ton for the best. Advancement in Flour An advancement in the price of all brands of flour of 10s a ton took place this morning. At present it is selling at £lO 18s a ton. Ample stocks of bran at 9s a cwt are to be had. The# position of pollard has undergone little change from last week. Stocks are low, but merchants are expecting the position to be relieved with a shipment from Australia next week. It is selling at 10s 6d a cwt at the moment. Oats are firm and advancing in price, B Gartons selling through Auckland stores at 4s lOd a bushel, and A’s at 5s a biishel. Chaff is also advancing and is worth £lO 15s a ton.
