HANDS ON THE TILL
AUTH CAUGHT IN SHOP BY WOMAN CHARGE MADE IN COURT Caught with his hands upon the till of a Newmarket confectionery shop yesterday a youth was held by the shop assistant, Miss K. Hayes, until help arrived. The youth was arrested. At the Police Court this morning John Boath Prohl, a diminutive youth of 19 r was charged with attempting to steal the contents of a till owned by Mrs. Ruby Meyrick. He was remanded until Thursday. Prohl was further charged, conjointly with Henry James Dickman, painter, aged 29, with breaking and entering and stealing from the dwelling of Martha Louisa Braithwaite, 233 Jarvois Road, on May 5. The accused are alleged to have stolen a watch, torch and 8s 8d in cash of a total value of £5 18s Bd. They were remanded until Thursday.
