Unemployed Meet New Prime Minister

NOT SATISFIED NO-CONFIDENCE MOTION Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Replying to a mass deputation of unemployed, where there were about 60 present, the Hon. G. W. Forbes today stated that the Government was doing its best. It had already put 2,000 men on relief work and was endeavouring to place 150 more in the next three weeks. The Government was asking local bodies to hasten up all works, and was also taking steps to provide relief works during the coming winter. There would be a meeting in Wellington next week of local bodies, for the purpose of seeing what could be done for charitable relief and also the provision of works, and he hoped that similar meetings would be held In the other centres. The deputation was not satisfied with the proposals of the Government and passed a vote of no confidence in the United Party then and there.
