SHAMROCK V. BEHAVES WELL IN ENGLISH EVENTS HOPES FOR AMERICA’S CUP British Official Wireless Reed. 11.50 a.m. RUGBY, Wed. Sir Thomas Lipton, who in the past 30 years has spent £500,000 on five yachts built to sail across the Atlantic and challenge in American waters the holders of the America’s Cup, is confident that Shamrock V. will be successful in the race next September. Sir Thomas, who is 80 years old. is highly pleased with the performance of Shamrock V., which won another race at Southend today, and he declares the trials have revealed no weak points in the design.
