MAJESTIC

“HALF WAY TO HEAVEN” The current programme at the Alajestic Theatre, “Dark Streets” and “Afen Are Like That," will be given its final screening this evening. Beginning tomorrow at the matinee, an entirely new programme will be screened. The principal film to be shown will be “Half YV<ay to Heaven," starring Charles Rogers and Jean Arthur.

“Half Way to Heaven” brings Rogers to the allta Iking screen as a youthful trapeze performer in a carnival. In this daring role, he falls in love with Jean Arthur, his feminine partner, whose charms have also captured the heart of the third member of

the act, Paul Lukas, a dangerous character whose fiery jealousy threatens even Rogers’s life. Rogers’s own skill and daring alone save him from Lukas’s rage but Lukas vows to kill him while the trio are performing under the “big top.” The story comes to a smashing, hairraising climax when Rogers, evading Lukas’s attempt on his life, turns on the villain, beats him so severely that Lukas leaves the show and Rogers and Miss Arthur are free to continue their interesting romance. A particularly fine supporting programme will also be presented tomorrow. There will be a new Alickey the Arouse cartoon, a newspaper news, a talkie comedy sketch by Louise Fazenda, a musical fantasy, starring Luno Valez, and entitled “Glorious Vamps,” a singing Talkartoon. and finally selections by Air. WhitefordWaugli’s Orchestra.
