WATERFRONT ROMANCE
STUDENTS' BRIGHT SHOW For topical chatter in -which the hobbies, faults and ambitions of leadins citizens in New Zealand, and Auckland in particular, are portrayed in song with a surprising knack of geting to the point in four lines, the Auckland University students’ extravaganza this year equals any of the previous annual shows. “All Quiet on the Waterfront" is delightfully staged. The performers, except for slight nervousness in some instances, take their parts well and very few mistakes were seen at last evening’s performance. - The dressing is also very well done. The plot is certainly unique. The water-workers of Songwesing are deficient in vitamines, and at the order of the Emperor, an expedition is sent to New Zealand to obtain vitamines. Arriving, they abduct the vitamines and sail for China. Meanwhile the New Zealand Butter Board learns of its loss and dispatches the secretary and the scientist, who are in love with the two leading vitamines as well as the charwoman and a deductologist, to the rescue. The remainder of the play takes place at Songwesing. Mr Fryer Raisher, as the secretary, sings’ his way through the play with ease and he was abiy supported by Miss Hankin. the leading vitamine. The scientist, Mr. Grey, and Miss MacCormick lent useful assistance, Nil. Laurie, the Emperor, did good work, and able support was given by Messrs. Aubin. Smith. Williams. Hay, McLean and Don. Special mention must be made of Mr. Brodie. who as Mrs. Tggins, provides many ot the laughs of the show. -All Quiet on the Waterfront will be continued at His Majesty s Theatre throughout the week.
