In the Market Place

MORE OVERSEAS FRUIT TWO SHIPMENTS TODAY Further supplies of" fruit from overseas are due in Auckland today. The Maunganui will bring grapes and oranges from Sydney, and a consignment of fruit from the Cook Islands will be on board the Waipahi, from Rarotonga. These will probably be offered at the City Markets tomorrow. Repacked ripe bananas are selling at fairly low rates compared to those ruling a few weeks ago. Tomatoes from the South, too, show a decline in prices, due to their arrival here when green. The locally grown product is still in good demand, however. Except in the better grades there is no demand for apples, but pears are selling fairly well. Supplies of all vegetables in season, especially cabbage, pumpkins, cauliflowers and kumeras, continue to be heavy.
