SOCIAL AFTERNOON
METHODIST WOMEN’S GUILD The Kijigsland Methodist Women’s Guild held a pleasant social afternoon in the Jubilee Mall on Thursday, which was largely attended, and was arranged to try and increase the membership of the guild. A good programme was given by the following: Mrs. T. Clark gave a very cheery talk on how to banish a fit of the blues and helping one another to be cheerful and happy; two songs by Miss Davidson, piano solos by Miss Ryan and Miss Braitlrwaite; reading by the Rev. Woolloxall; and an amusing competition was won by Mrs. Hayhow, Mrs. J. Kayes and Mrs. Tremain. The meeting was in charge of Mrs. Woolloxall, the president of the guild, and at the interval for afternoon tea took the opportunity, on behalf of those present, to make a presentation of a toilet set, consisting of tray, mirror, brush and comb, to Mrs. T. Hodgson, the retiring secretary, and spoke in glowing terms of her long service as secretary, Mrs. Hodgson suitably responded. A pleasant afternoon was brought *o a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
