Aliss V. D. Clarke has been appointed to the staff of the Alorrinsville District High School as specialist assistant in music, in place of Aliss Al. Grimwade, Avho has resigned.
Airs. W. I-lume, of th& Wairarapa, is on a visit to Alorrinsville.
Airs. W. Pomeroy and family, of Hamilton, are staying at Waihi Beach.
Aliss E. Baines, of Dannevirke, is on a visit to Te Aroha and is the guest of Airs. Dale, Elstow.
Airs. A. Beale is visiting Hunterville on the occasion of the marriage of her son, Air. Thomas Bernard Beale, to Aliss Olive Butement, of I-luntervillc
Airs. E. English, of Hamilton, is on a visit to Wellington.
Mrs. C. FI. Tait, of Te Kuiti, has been visiting relatives in Hamilton.
Airs. FI. J. AlcAlullin and family are spendng a holiday in Tauranga. * * * Aliss A. G. Plummer, 8.A., a member of the secondary staff of the Waihi District High School, has resigned and will be relinquishing her duties at the end of Alas’. She intends leaving on a visit to the Old Country. * * * Air. and Mrs. J. M. Fitness have returned to Alatamata from a trip to Australia. * * Miss Betty Nutting, of Hamilton, is spending the holiday vacation in New Plymouth. * * * Aliss E. Miller, of the Diocesan School, Hamilton, is visiting her home in Kiwitahi, for the school holidays. $ 1* * Air. and Airs. C. T. Barker, of Waharoa, are at the Thames Coast for the holidas’S. BIRTHDAY' PARTY Airs. Harris, of Karapiro, was hostess at a birthday party on Saturday evening given in honour of her son Arthur, who attained his 21st birthday. The Karapiro Hall was tastefully decorated for the occasion, when games, competitions and dancing were indulged in. The dance music was supplied by Airs. Grayburn, and Mr. C. Humphries acted as master of ceremonies. * * • ST. MARY’S TENNIS CLUB DANCE The first dance of St. Alary’s Tennis Club was held on Monday evenign, when a most enjoyable time was spent. PRESENTATIONS AT HOCKEY SOCIAL A very pleasant evening was spent on Friday in the social hall at Ngaruawahia, when dancing atid euchre were indulged in. AXusic was provided by Aliss O'Sullivan and Air. W. Paterson was in charge of the euchre, the prizewinners being Aliss Bowers and Air. S. Paterson. During the evening Dr. Isdale, the president, on behalf of the members, presented Miss Winnie AlcCabe and Aliss Edna Lynch, who are shortly to be married, with a tea wagon each. The recipients duly responded. thanking the members for their useful gifts and kind wishes. AN ENG AGE AI ENT The engagement is announced of Aliss Elva Constance, only daughter of Mrs. Hill and the late Air. R. Hill, of Alilton Street. Flamilton, to Mr. Raymond Balmer. eldest son of Air. and Airs. J. B. Smith, River Road, Hamilton. $ * * GIFT AFTERNOON A gift afternoon was held yesterday at the association’s rooms in Brye Street, Hamilton, in aid of funds fer the women’s auxiliary of the Y.M.C.A. Airs. Kent Johnston, president, was hostess and a very interesting address was given by Aliss Jean Begg, J.P.. general secretary of the Auckland Y’.W.C.A. Aliss Begg spoke of the forthcoming Pan-Pacific Conference to be held /a Flonolulu in August this year. Aliss Begg has been invited to be chairman of one of the sections of this conference, and hoped that New Zealand would send a representative delegation.
Afternoon tea was served when all present had an opportunity of meeting Miss Begg.
