PRIZE NIGHT

Bowling and Croquet Clubs ANNUAL PAPATOETOE FUNCTION The Papatoetoe Town Hall was the scene of a very enjoyable function last evening, when the Papatoetoe Bowling and Croquet Club held its annual dance and prize night. 'yriSITORS were present from a number of sister clubs, and representatives of the Auckland Bowling Centre attended. An enjoyable programme of dance numbers was supplied by AValker’s Orchestra.

The duties of M.C.’s were carried out by Messrs. AV. J. S. AVilson. S. McCullough and E. H. Burnside. Mr. J. Franklin, president of the club, extended a cordial welcome to the large gathering, and then called on Mrs. J. Daisley, president of the croquet club, to present the trophies to the winners of the club competitions, as follow; —Club championship singles, Mrs. Tregear; runner-up, Mrs. R. Parker Hill; A grade doubles, Mesdames Tregear and Carr; A grade singles, Mrs. R. Parker Hill; B grade championship singles, Mrs. Foster; B grade singles, Mrs. Shepherd; B grade doubles, Mesdames Foster and S. McCullough.

Mr. Franklin then presented the successful competitors in the bowling club competitions as follow:—A grade singles championship, Mr. L. E. Bayliss; B grade singles championship, Mr. F. E. Carr; championship pairs, Messrs. R. Parker Hill and S. McCullough; handicap pairs, Messrs. J. Qowling and J. Anderson; president’s trophy, Mr. AV. C. Boyce; Morgan Cup, Mr. R. AV. Buckton.

Musical items were contributed by Miss Mary AVilson, Mr. H. Reynolds and Mr. J. Sandford. Mrs. J. J. Valentine acted as accompanist. Among those present were:

Hill, a handsome gown of sequined black ninon; Mrs. L. E. Bayliss, pretty frock of allover rose beige silk lace; Mrs. G. Foster, who was wearing black embossed georgette; Mrs. T. E. Carr, who was froeked. in black crepe de chine; Mrs. W. Knight, weafing a pretty frock in tones of blue; Mrs. S. McCullough’s gown was of black crepe de chine, Avorn Avith oriental Avrap; Mrs. F. M. AVaters, who was wearing black crepe faille, Avith relief of lace; Mrs. OAven Self, in a frock of embossed georgette, in shades of green and rose; Mrs. T. H. C. Partridge, who was froeked in ivory satin, with tiered lace skirt.

Mrs. A. AV. Hall’s frock was of wine patterned velvet; Mrs. A. G. Grinter, whose frock Avas of navy blue crepe de chine, with beige facings; Mrs. AV. Boyce, in a pretty frock of floral ninon; Mrs. Codings, who Avas wearing an unrelieved l'rock of black crepe de chine, with wrap of AvallfloAver tonings; Mrs. Tregear, Otahuhu, Avho Avas in cigar-brown crepe de chine; Mrs. McGregor, rose silk lace, worn over a foundation of deeper shaded taffeta; Mrs. Burrill’s pretty gown Avas of black lace, worn with fur Avrap; Mrs. J. Daisley, who Avas Avearing a handsome gown of black embroidered georgette; Mrs. J. McFarland, who wore brocaded georgette, in tones of rose; Airs. H. Reynolds, in a pretty picture frock of ivory satin, with deep yoke of silver lace; Airs. J. George, Avho A\'as wearing a black beaded charmeuse frock; Mrs. Ranum, who Avore a smart gOAvn of win£berry chenille georgette. PICTURE FROCK Mrs. J. Jackson, who -was wearing a picture frock of primrose georgette and lace; Airs. J. Sandford, Avho wore black charmeuse, with pointed overdress of silver lace; Airs. J. J. Valentine, Avho was froeked in naAy blue crepe faille, with wrap of ciel blue; Mrs. G. AlcCauley’s frock Avas black lace, Avorn over foundation of amber satin; Airs. FT. Swaffield was froeked in patterned crepe de chine.
