BIRKENHEAD WOMEN'S WELFARE ASSOCIATION
MAYORESS PRESIDES AT FIRST MEETING
The first meeting of the Birkenhead Women’s Welfare. Association was held in the Parish Hall on Wednesday evening, the Mayoress, Mrs. J. P. McPhail, presiding. There was a good attendance and the syllabus for the year, drawn up by the committee, was submitted to the members. This committee comprises Mesdames Mills, Hewson, Gilfillan, Jasper, and Kemp. McPhail (president), Gilfillan (vicepresident) and A. E. Wood (hon. secretary). It was also decided to form a subcommittee for the distribution of relief funds raised especially for that purpose, this committee being Mesdames Dariow. Hillam. Taylor, Clarke and Miss Bell, and officers of the association.
After the conclsuion of the business a very enjoyable evening was spent, musical items being given by Miss Mavh Hewson. Miss D. Mills and Miss K. Berry. The Mayoress thanked all the members who had joined the association. and for the interest shown, and hoped that the organisation would help in the welfare of women generally in the borough.
