FARM BURSARIES
TARANAKI DEPUTATION TO SENATE ACCREDITING SYSTEM Press Association WELLINGTON, Thursday. A deputation from Taranaki to the University Senate urged that steps taken to allow of bursaries being awarded to students in Taranaki secondary schools, enabling them To take a course at Massey Agricultural Col- ; lege. A committee was appointed to look into the question and report, and it was stated that legislation might be | necessary. ! Accrediting to the University was discussed by the Senate. The Senate 1 had agreed to the change, admissions j being made on the recommendations of headmasters supported by secondary school inspectors. The new system, j it was asserted, however, could not be i brought into force until additional inspectors were appointed. The Edui cation Department wrote that more inspectors could not be appointed at present and suggested the Senate con- | tribute to the salaries of additional in- - spectors if appointed. The Senate de- ! cided it could not agree.
