MURDER IN TAXI
ARREST OF SUSPECT FOLLOWS GEELONG AFFAIR INTENDED TO KILL SELF MELBOURNE, Wednesday. At an inquest at Geelong into tho death of Horace Walpole, who was found murdered in his taxi-cab on April 29, Eric Brockwell was committed for trial on a charge of murder. A detective stated in evidence that Brockwell admitted having killed Walpole, but said he was not in his right senses at the time owing to worry. He had bought the rifle used with the intention of killing himself. Walpole, who Was aged 36, was encaged for a trip on the night. He was shot from behind, the bullet entering his head. The body was covered with a rug. Robbery was not the motive of the crime as money was found in the victim's pockets.
