FIBROUS PLASTERERS

NEW AWARD AGREED TO An application by the fibrous plasterers’ section of the Auckland Plasterers’ Union for review of the present award was considered by the Conciliation Council yesterday. The Conciliation Commissioner, Mr. P. Hally, presided. Increased wages, an adjustment of working hours and other alterations formed the subject of the application. The application was taken in committee and at the conclusion the commissioner said a complete agreement between the parties had been arranged, based on the present award for the most part. The council’s recommendations will be forwarded to the Arbitration Court in order to obtain a new award for the next two years. Messrs. H. Carlton, N. Stricken and R. Rogers represented the union, while Messrs. I. Holmes, H. V. Wallace and A. H. Wigginton appeared for the employers. The workers’ agent was Mr. J. Purtell, while Mr. S. E. Wright was agent for the employers.
