CHAIRMAN RETIRES
CONTROLLED POWER BOARD SINCE INCEPTION PRESENTATION TO MR. HAYDEN The chairman of the Waitemata Power Board since its inception in 1924, Mr. J. W. Hayden, relinquished control at the annual meeting of the board this morning. He has also resigned his seat on the board, although his term as a representative of Takapuna consumers is not completed. He will take a business position in the City. Mr. G. Trevithick, of Devonport, was appointed chairman for this year. The presentation of a fountain pen and a coloured stone ink-stand was made to Mr. Hayden, on behalf of members, by Mr. W. R. T. Leighton, who spoke of the respect and esteem in which both past and present members held Mr. Hayden. In the past meetings had been very happy and harmonious, and he regretted deeply the little unpleasantness which had cropped up at the end of the term. Mr. Hayden had never spared himself and had done great work in bringing the board into its present financial position. After Mr. Hayden had left the meeting, a motion expressing appreciation of his work was proposed by the new chairman, Mr. Trevithick, and carried.
