GARAGE DESTROYED

NINE VEHICLES BURNED LOSS OF OVER £5,000 Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, Sunday. A motor garage at Waitara was destroyed by fire on Saturday night, and with it seven heavy motor lorries, one valuable car and one motor-cycle were destroyed. The owner, Mr. E. A. Johnson, estimates the damage at between £5,000 and £6,000, some of which is covered by insurance. The fire was a spectacular one, and was visible for miles. The benzine tank of one lorry exploded, and pieces of it fell a considerable distance away. One piece narrowly missed hitting Mrs. Johnson, when it fell on a lawn.
