TWO-YEAR-OLD VANESSA For just on a month the two-year-olcl Vanessa lias been restricted to light exercise under the direction of <l. Henderson, at Avondale. It is the intention to continue with this form of treatment for a few weeks yet, and then the filly will go under contract for more serious tasks to fit her for engagements in the early spring At the beginning of the season Vanessa shaped like a good one. and when she easily defeated some juveniles in a two-year-old parade at the Pakuranga Hunt meeting last Ai’gust a bright future was predicted for her. But unfortunately the filly contracted a cold shortly after contesting the Avondale Stakes, and a slow recovery made it impossible to race her again as a two-vear-old. Now she looks really well, and is a fine big robusT youngster. Vanessa is a daughter of Romeo and Ltakura, and was bred by her owneri trainer, G, Henderson,
