TWO HOUSES RAIDED

20 CHARGED WITH GAMBLING Press Association GREYMOUTH, Sunday. The police yesterday raided two places in Greymouth, and as a result 20 persons were later charged with breaches of the gaming laws. Philip Stewart was charged with keeping a common gaming house and with assisting in keeping a common gaming house. He was remanded on bail of £SO until May 19. James Heffernan, who was on the same premises in Mawhera Quay, was charged with assisting in keeping a common gaming house. He also was remanded until May 19 on bail of £25. Fifteen others arrested on the same premises were remanded on bail of £5 each. Daniel McCarthy was charged with keeping a common gaming house in Boundary Street, and was remanded until May 19 on bail of £SO. Two others arrested at his premises, one a woman, were remanded on bail of £ 5 each.
