RESULT OF HIGH TARIFF

Phillips Lamps, Ltd., is arranging to manufacture wireless valves and apparatus in Australia. Lamps will be made iu conjunction with the General Electric Company. A factory site is not yet decided, blit it will be either in Melbourne or Sydney. This is a further result of the recent Federal tariff measures. Experts will be sent from the Phillips headquarters at indhoven, Holland, to decide the position and size of the works. The London manager, Mr. Harris,, saw the Australian Minister for Trade and Customs, Mr. Fenton, in London, who stated that the Commonwealth welcomed the development and would give any facilities possible.
