TE AROHA NOTES

Mr. George Boyle, for the past eight years a member of the Te Aroha postal staff, was given a farewell at the post office before leaving for Paeroa, to which place he has been promoted. On behalf of the staff, he was presented by the postmaster, Mr. Xoake, with a shaving outfit and cigarette case. Ai Hinemoa House, where he has resided for some years, he was presented with an alarm clock, and combination fountain pen and pencil. * * * Following the farewell to Adjutant and Mrs. Douglas, a welcome socle! was given on Thursday evening to Adjutant and Mrs. Thompson. They were introduced by Ensign McKinnon, of Auckland, who assured the newcomers that they were now in a very warm-hearted community. * • « Nearly 100 members and friends of St. Mark’s Girls’ Club assembled at the Parish Hall, where the presentation of a handsome toilet set was made by the Rev. R. L. Connolly, on behalf of the members, to Miss Eorie, who is leaving to reside in Hamilton. The club was founded by Mis 6 Lorie seven years ago. and her excellent management resulted in a large membership and a prosperous institution which has done really good work. The recipient said the success of the club’s work was her reward for any work she ha«l been able to do in its interests, and rtit wished it continued prosperity.
